Emergency Express Design-Build Bridge Replacements

Tara Group of Lumberton, Inc. (Tara Group) and KCA partnered to perform an emergency express design-build (D-B) bridge replacement in NCDOT Division 6 after Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Our teams also recently responded to a fire damaged bridge in NCDOT Division 6, providing full demolition and coordination with CSX in order to remove the damaged structure.
In 2016, Bridge No. 230188 carrying SR 1516 over Brier Creek in Columbus County, NC was damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Deterioration to the bridge and approach roadways was significant enough to warrant replacement. KCA performed design services for the replacement of the bridge and approach roadways, as well as reconstruction of Brier Creek to its pre-storm condition.
In 2019, KCA partnered with Tara Group under an Express D-B contract for the replacement of four bridges in NCDOT Division 6. Bridge replacements included all NCDOT Standard Details for cored slab bridges. All design and construction services were completed in accordance with the established contract schedule.
