The KCA Way: People + Purpose + Progress

KCA began with a simple goal: to do good work the right way. Guided by honesty, integrity, and loyalty, our firm has grown from a small Florida-based team into a regional leader delivering transformative transportation solutions across the Southeast.

The KCA Way is about more than engineering—it’s about people. We believe in collaboration, innovation, and creating connections that endure. Every project we deliver is a reflection of our values: turning challenges into opportunities, supporting our clients with dedication, and designing infrastructure that protects, connects, and inspires.

From bridges and roadways to resilient systems that shape the future of mobility, KCA’s work tells a larger story: one of partnership, legacy, and lasting impact. Because for us, success isn’t just measured in miles of pavement or tons of steel, it’s measured in the progress we make together.

Learn More About KCA Cares

I originally joined KCA as an Inspector Aide in the Bridge Inspection Department after inspecting Turnpike bridges in the Miami area. Over the years, my career has continued to grow and evolved—after about a year in Bridge Inspection, I transferred to the CEI Department as a Roadway Inspector and steadily progressed through the ranks, ultimately passing the PE exam and becoming a Senior Project Engineer and Regional Manager. Throughout my...

When I first started at KCA, Contracts Department was mainly a one-person operation. Audit packages were hundreds of pages long and submitted in 3-ring binders. All contracts were original paper versions, which took up an enormous amount of room. Since 1996, our Contracts Department has grown to four people and a manager. We have added projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas with additional states in the works.

I’ve been a staff member at KCA since 1996. For nearly 30 years working with my friends, beginning as a Sr. Inspector and evolving into a Project Administrator, I provided start-to-finish CEI services for 18 construction projects with one lasting over 8 years and involvement in numerous others. Our teams have always been supported by the leadership of the firm, from way back in the day… to today.

I started with KCA in 2011 in our Tampa/Brandon Bridge Inspection group. I was lucky enough to have an extended family member working for KCA, who introduced me and from that I was hired as a bridge inspection technician. Over the past 15 years I have advanced from Technician, to Certified Bridge Inspector, Professional Engineer, and now Senior Structures Engineer – Team Leader. KCA has always recognized my efforts and rewarded...

I came to KCA through relationships (teaching bridge inspectors how to dive) and those relationships turned into a career. I started as a technician, earned my CBI license, and now serve as a Bridge Inspection Supervisor. KCA has always valued experience, trust, and its people, which is why I’ve stayed for more than 38 years.

A new opportunity in a new place for the short-term brought me to KCA, but the people are what led me to stay long-term. When I started as an intern in Raleigh, I think we were right at 10 people or a little less. Now the Raleigh “family” has grown to about 30 folks, not including those who branched off to start the Charlotte design office in 2022. From my first...

My introduction to KCA came as a freshman at Georgia Tech looking for a Civil firm to co-op with. I spent my first summer at the KCA Atlanta office on Peachtree Street and then rotated every other semester working full time. I gained a lot of knowledge and real-world experience along with forming relationships that have lasted over 20 years. As my time at Georgia Tech finished up, I was...
