Lois Avenue Improvements (Cleveland Street to Boy Scout Boulevard)
KCA was selected to lead the design of multi-modal, safety, and operational improvements along Lois Avenue from Cleveland Street to Boy Scout Boulevard. This Local Agency Program (LAP)-funded project, in partnership with the City of Tampa and FDOT District Seven, aims to enhance corridor safety, reduce congestion, and improve connectivity for all users (particularly bicyclists and pedestrians). Improvements include milling/resurfacing; curb reconstruction to reduce the roadway width; a 12-foot multi-use trail along the east side of the corridor; a westbound right-turn lane at Cypress St.; extending the existing left-turn lanes in all directions; and signal improvements at Cypress Street and I-275.
As part of this effort, KCA is also designing intersection upgrades at Cypress Street to improve traffic operations and safety. Planned features include new left-turn lanes, pedestrian refuge islands, and mid-block crossings to enhance walkability. The project also includes a robust public involvement and community outreach component, through which the KCA team will engage local residents and businesses to share design concepts, gather feedback, and foster support for the proposed improvements.
