Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Eastern Section (U-2579AB) Design-Build (D/B)

The scope of this project consists of providing construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services for the new construction of the $200 million Winston-Salem Northern Beltway Eastern Section (future I-74) from I-40 to I-40 Business/US 421 in Winston-Salem. This “new location” project includes the widening and extension of I-74 connecting to the adjacent ongoing U-2579AA CEI project. The KCA team was selected for its understanding of the complexity of management of CEI contracts involving complicated utility conflicts, complex phasing and maintenance of traffic (MOT) on high-speed interstate facilities, curved steel girder bridges with phased construction, widening of concrete paving on interstate facilities, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components including interconnected signals, dynamic message signs, cameras, fiber-optic cable, and associated infrastructure.
