KCA provided CEI services for this project, which consisted of the extension/construction of SW 62nd Boulevard from SW 43rd Street to SW 20th Avenue. This 1.28-mile-long project consisted primarily of new roadway construction to provide a new four-lane/two-lane corridor with bike lanes, sidewalk, and multi-use paths that connect SW 43rd Street and SW 20th Avenue. The new connection also featured construction of a new 270-foot-long bridge over Hogtown Creek. The typical section for the approximately 56-foot-wide, five-span bridge (Bridge No. 264881) consists of two 11-foot travel lanes, 10-foot shoulders, and a 10-foot multi-use trail. One new pond was constructed and one existing pond was modified to accommodate the new stormwater management system, and the project received new vehicular and pedestrian signalization at SW 43rd Street/SW 62nd Boulevard, and SW 43rd Street/SW 18th Place intersections. The project now includes both standard and selective clearing and grubbing, regular and subsoil excavation, embankment, Type B stabilization, optional base, structural and friction course asphalt, guardrail removal and installation, rubble riprap, drainage installation, curb and gutter, barrier and gravity wall, traffic separators, lighting, thermoplastic pavement markings (standard and preformed), performance turf, signing, and landscaping.
