SCDOT Statewide Bridge Preventative Maintenance & Design

KCA was selected for the first statewide bridge maintenance contract for SCDOT’s Bridge Maintenance office. For this task-based contract, the KCA team will provide bridge and structural design and analysis, emergency response, field surveys, utility and railroad coordination, hydrology and hydraulic design, geotechnical investigation and design, lead and asbestos assessment, public involvement, environmental documentation, permitting, load rating, traffic analysis and design, construction support services, right-of-way (R/W) coordination, and other related services. KCA has developed two emergency designs for SCDOT in recent years. KCA developed a full substructure plan to support a 120-foot Mabey Compact truss bridge to re-open the structure to traffic including a full finite element analysis and strengthening of the existing truss structure. KCA developed crutch bent details to support another bridge in Spartanburg County, SC with deteriorated piles, which will ultimately be replaced by a new structure.
