Jenkins Road (CR 712/Midway Road to SR 68/Orange Avenue PD&E Study
The purpose of the Jenkins Road Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study is to enhance connectivity and provide pedestrian and bicycle accommodations to a parallel facility to I-95 in St. Lucie County. The limits extend from CR 712 (Midway Road) to SR 68 (Orange Avenue). Jenkins Road is an emergency evacuation route and is classified as an urban minor arterial. The existing facility is a two-lane undivided roadway from Midway Road to Post Office Road (0.34 miles), Glades Cutoff Road to Walmart Distribution Center (0.60 miles), and Altman Road to Orange Avenue (3 miles). KCA will evaluate widening the existing roadway to a four-lane facility. We will also evaluate a new four-lane roadway from Post Office Road to Glades Cutoff Road (0.36 miles) which includes a new crossing with Florida East Coast (FEC) Railroad and Walmart Distribution Center to Altman Road (0.80 miles) which includes a new crossing over Tenmile Creek. KCA is providing concept development, access management, structures, drainage, wetlands, protected species assessment, conservation lands evaluation, air and noise as well as completion of the project’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents development.
