KCA was the lead construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services firm for NCDOT on this design-build (D/B) project. The total construction cost of this I-85 project was to a tune of $125.1 million and consisted of widening the roadway to eight lanes with concrete pavement, two diverging diamond bridges at the interchanges of NC 73 and Popular Tent Road, retaining walls, curb and gutter, and sidewalk construction on NC 73 and Poplar Tent Road.
The I-85/I-485 interchange project cost was $92.1 million to construct a turbine interchange with concrete pavement and 19 bridges.
