KCA was under contract to perform design and post-design services for the Bob Sikes Bridge for Escambia County, FL. During construction Hurricane Sally made landfall just west of Pensacola and washed out and completely undermined the bridge approaches. The bridge that leads to Pensacola Beach had to be closed to traffic due to the damage. KCA staff responded within 24 hours after the storm has passed. Our experienced emergency staff was able to inspect the damage and develop a design to open the bridge up to full traffic within four days.
