Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.

Skills:

  • Able to analyze and interpret data.
  • Able to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
  • Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
  • Able to work effectively in group settings or as an individual.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction and guidance of the Traffic Department Manager and Project Managers.
  • Collaborate with other KCA associates on traffic and transportation engineering tasks.
  • Provide technical support related to traffic analysis, traffic operations, and traffic design.
  • Assist with data collection and analysis, development of traffic impact studies, and preparation of capacity modeling and simulation efforts.
  • Support the planning and design of traffic elements such as signalization, lighting, ITS, signing, and pavement marking.
  • Contribute to projects involving new roadways, roadway improvements, intersections, interchanges, signal timing optimization, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and work zone traffic control plans.
  • Assist with the development of project deliverables, including engineering documentation, graphics, and design exhibits.
  • Gain exposure to traffic modeling tools, traffic simulation techniques, and real‑world traffic operations for state and local agency projects.
