Qualifications
Education:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Skills:
- Able to analyze and interpret data.
- Able to meet time sensitive deadlines.
- Able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
- Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
- Able to work effectively in group settings or as an individual.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Work with experienced Professional Engineers and entry‑level engineers to support structural calculations and design tasks for transportation‑related structures.
- Assist with the analysis and design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other highway structures.
- Support the preparation of structural plans, quantities, cost estimates, and bid package components.
- Participate in bridge inspection activities, field reviews, and the development of related reports.
- Assist in assembling construction plans, reviewing submittals, and preparing calculations and technical documentation.
- Contribute to the development and production of project deliverables, including written documentation, graphics, and plan sheets.
- Gain exposure to AASHTO standards, material specifications, structural modeling tools, and design methodologies.
- Work as a proactive, self‑starter within a collaborative team environment to support multiple structural engineering tasks.
