Qualifications
Education:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Skills:
- Able to analyze and interpret data.
- Able to meet time sensitive deadlines.
- Able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, and field notes in project files.
- Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
- Able to work effectively in group settings or as an individual.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction and guidance of the Roadway Department and Project Managers.
- Collaborate with other KCA associates on a variety of transportation engineering tasks.
- Provide technical support for roadway design projects, including geometric design, roadway widening, intersection layout, and safety improvements.
- Assist with projects such as new roadway alignments, widening, milling and resurfacing, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, highway safety studies, and intersection/interchange design.
- Contribute to the preparation of construction documents, engineering reports, and plan production.
- Assist with the development and production of project deliverables, including written documentation, graphics, and design exhibits.
- Gain exposure to DOT standards and roadway design practices to build a strong technical foundation.
