As a Mid-Level Drainage Engineer, you will take on a greater level of responsibility in the design and management of complex stormwater systems for transportation and site development projects. Your duties will include leading drainage design tasks, performing advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and preparing comprehensive drainage reports, construction documents, and cost estimates. You will be expected to independently interpret design criteria, coordinate with roadway and structural teams, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local stormwater regulations. Proficiency with software such as ICPR, SWMM, and Open Roads Drainage is required. In addition, this role may involve mentoring junior engineers, reviewing plans and calculations, and supporting client coordination and quality assurance efforts.

Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
- EI certification required; PE license preferred or on track to obtain
- Strong understanding of DOT design standards and project workflows
- Effective communication and technical writing skills
- A self-starter with a team-oriented mindset and leadership potential
Responsibilities
- As a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter, he or she is responsible for the technical adequacy of the projects assigned. This position requires the use of engineering concepts of specialized field and other related disciplines.
- Determines project design criteria.
- Performs design calculations.
- Documents assumptions, design decisions, results of calculations, conclusions, and recommendations in reports, project documentation, letters, or memorandums.
- Assignments require the use of advanced engineering techniques, and the modification and extension of exiting concepts and practices of in the individuals specialized field.
- Requires the knowledge of and coordination with other related disciplines to achieve an overall compatible product.
- Is thoroughly familiar with DOT guidelines and standards, AASHTO codes, or other applicable specifications.
- Plans and develops one of more engineering projects. Assists the Department Manager and Chief Engineer in a supervisory capacity with individual projects.
- Evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of project activities to be carried out by others.
- Maintains contact with the project manager and client.
- Represents the corporation in meetings to resolve important technical questions, and to plan and coordinate work.
- Assists with marketing and proposals.
- Is proficient in specific computer applications and familiar with CADD capabilities.
- Accentuates work through professional development.
