Hurricane Ian Sanibel Island Access Project

KCA is honored to be part of the Hurricane Ian Sanibel Island Access Project, recently recognized as the No. 1 Road on Roads & Bridges’ 2025 Top 10 Roads list.

The $328 million emergency reconstruction  restored the Sanibel Causeway after Hurricane Ians destruction in 2022, the Sanibel Causeway is only connection between Sanibel Island and the mainland. Our joint team restored emergency access for utility crews in seven days and for the Sanibel residents in fifteen days. Permanent reconstruction was completed two years ahead of schedule and his now completed. The causeway serves more than 13,000 vehicles daily, according to Lee County traffic monitoring data, serving both the region’s resident population and its tourism-driven economy.

This project represents resilience, collaboration, and the dedication of teams working together to reconnect a community when it mattered most.
